Parents: Our Partners
Family engagement involves our team helping families to assume an active role in planning experiences designed to benefit their child, both in our program and at home. It also involves promoting family well-being and support as they seek resources for their child. Educate, show empathy, ask for input, and be part of the family as a team. These are just a few ways we promote family engagement at Small Wonders. Join us in strengthening these family bonds—get involved today!

Dealing With Potty Training Resistance
Creative Rewards
Sometimes children want more than stickers and candy. Think about your child’s interests and hobbies. Do they like dolls or trucks? Consider buying that item and putting it in a high place so they can see it and work for it.
Character Underwear
All toddlers love character underwear! This alone can be a great potty training incentive for them. They will love wearing their favorite characters, and they won’t be happy about soiling them. This can be great motivation to go to the potty and keep those undies clean and dry.
Potty Training Tips: How to Potty Train in One Week
Get Your Gear
We often suggest either a potty chair or a potty seat. Start by narrowing the choices down and then give your child some options. It does not matter which one you get, as long as it interests your child.
Notify
If there’s anyone else who watches your child, notify them. This can be anyone, from daycare teachers to babysitters to other family members. Even older children can help; toddlers often look up to their brothers and sisters and copy their behaviors.
Staycation
Prepare for a weekend or weeklong staycation for your potty training journey and some accidents. Children are likely to have accidents.
Is Your Child Ready?
Some signs can be: getting undressed and dressed with little to no help; imitating parental behavior or that of older siblings; and following simple instructions.
